Conwy Valley Windows employee Steven Price has been awarded with second place at the Master Fitter of the Year Awards 2014 at the FIT Show in Telford.

The event, which took place on 10th-12th June 2014, tested the skills of fitters throughout the UK. Steven appeared in the awards challenge alongside eight other finalists, and went through a rigorous testing process in order to be nominated.

The screening process involved a telephone interview, in which Steven was quizzed on his knowledge of Building Regulations and ability to install windows and doors.

Steven was judged on June 10th, and his challenge involved removing a three-segment wooden bay window and replacing it with a PVCu window. He was also tasked with installing a composite door and carrying out a thorough fault diagnosis on another glazed PVCu door.

Conwy Valley Windows, Llandudno, North Wales, is a dedicated company offering a wide range of PVCu windows, conservatories, orangeries and sun rooms, doors, porches, roofline products, garage doors and sheds.

Mr Tracy Williams, Managing Director of Conwy Valley Windows, said: “I am extremely proud of Steve. This competition is not just about fitting techniques though; there is as much importance placed on everything else associated with window and door installation work, particularly health and safety.

“All of my staff are trained to a level commensurate with their job role and responsibilities, and to meet the requirements of legislation associated with this industry. The company holds the Standard for Investors in People and works closely with Woodhead Consulting to obtain government funding for training from which Steve and my company has benefitted. Steve is undertaking his NVQ Level 3 in Fenestration Installation which should be completed this June. ”
