Want to give your home a makeover, but don’t have the time or budget to get the professionals in? You don’t always have to dedicate weeks (or a fortune) to revamping the home, as these 5 easy tricks will show. Try one or all five and your home will feel brand new in no time.

Have a spring clean

1) An Intense Spring Clean

Believe it or not, sometimes the best way to revamp the home is just by giving it a thorough clean.

We’re not talking wiping down the sides and vacuuming round; this is an intense spring clean.

Hire a carpet cleaner to steam the floors, get the windows washed inside and out and wash any fabrics such as cushion or sofa covers.

Don’t forget the outside of your home too, including the walls, doors and gardens.

Depending on the size of the house (and how many volunteers you rope in), it should take no longer than a day to get completed.

You’ll be surprised how amazing your home looks afterwards.

2) Wall Art

If that pale, pastel coloured wall is not singing like it used to, it may be time to invest in some wall art.

These clever little things will spruce up any wall in the house, without costing the same as paint. They’re also really easy to put up!

The great thing is, there are so many different designs to choose from. Whether you want an inspirational quote or something a bit more urban and funky.

Have a look through the range of options and work out which wall decal is right for your home. Before you know it, you’ll have one in every room.

3) New Curtains

One area of the home that people tend to neglect are the windows.

These are the ‘eyes’ of your house and be seen from the outside, as well as the inside.

To spruce up every room in the home, almost instantly, you need to invest in some new curtains.

You could spread this revamp out over a few weeks, picking one room to upgrade at a time.

4) Sentiments

Living room looking a little outdated? Kitchen a little bare? Never fear, just fill it with sentimental items.

We’re talking photographs, ornaments, pictures the children have painted; anything which means something to you and your family.

Although your wallpaper may be peeling underneath, all that will draw the eye in will be those beautiful sentimental pieces. Plus, they create great talking points with your guests.

5) Upcycling

Finally, the biggest fashion trend of 2014; upcycling furniture. You need very little money or experience, just a little bit of dedication. Take any old piece of worn out furniture and create something beautiful from it.

If you know how to sew then make new cushion covers or tablecloths. Not great at sewing? That’s fine! Why not sand down an old piece of wooden furniture and give it a lick of paint? There are plenty of different ways to upcycle furniture and give old pieces a new lease of life.
