Introduction | Research Group/Membership | Activities | Culture Module | Finding the Dots | Commissioning Research The South West Cultural Sector Research Group exists to:1. Share and disseminate information about cultural sector research and related issues in, and pertaining to, the South West (to include research initiatives commissioned in other regions e.g. by another Regional Cultural Consortium or nationally and internationally) 2. Identify opportunities for partnership working on specific initiatives (e.g. studies, consultations and events) to further build a robust evidence-base of use to policy and decision-makers in the region and nationally including Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) 3. Champion good practice in, and a collaborative approach to, regional cultural sector research, raising awareness, avoiding duplication and ensuring appropriate linkage with research in other sectors and Observatory Modules such as environment, public health and planning 4. Develop and oversee implementation of a research strategy for the South West which underpins delivery of the revised cultural strategy 2008-2011 and People, Places and Spaces 5. Provide an authoritative 'voice' on regional cultural sector research to other regional and national bodies such as the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) Membership Culture South WestArts Council England, South West English Heritage Government Office for the South West Higher Education Regional Development Association South West (HERDA-SW) Heritage Lottery Fund Museums Libraries and Archives South West South West of England Regional Development Agency South West Observatory South West Screen South West Tourism Sport England South West Bristol City Council Additionally, the group seeks to involve, on an ongoing or per initiative basis, representatives of other regional and local bodies with an interest in cross-sector research and associated issues. Meetings The group meets between three and four times a year. Subgroups formed to oversee particular initiatives may meet more frequently. Meetings are held at partner offices and are chaired/supported by Culture South West. |
