Introduction | Research Group/Membership | Activities | Culture Module | Finding the Dots | Commissioning Research

The South West Cultural Sector Research Group exists to:

1. Share and disseminate information about cultural sector research and related issues in, and pertaining to, the South West (to include research initiatives commissioned in other regions e.g. by another Regional Cultural Consortium or nationally and internationally)

2. Identify opportunities for partnership working on specific initiatives (e.g. studies, consultations and events) to further build a robust evidence-base of use to policy and decision-makers in the region and nationally including Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS)

3. Champion good practice in, and a collaborative approach to, regional cultural sector research, raising awareness, avoiding duplication and ensuring appropriate linkage with research in other sectors and Observatory Modules such as environment, public health and planning

4. Develop and oversee implementation of a research strategy for the South West which underpins delivery of the revised cultural strategy 2008-2011 and People, Places and Spaces

5. Provide an authoritative 'voice' on regional cultural sector research to other regional and national bodies such as the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS)
