We broker partnerships between organisations and between people, passing on bright ideas and policy initiatives as they emerge

We are the principal communication hub for the cultural sector.

We support and argue the case for the benefits of culture both in the South West and beyond.

We do these things through

• strategy formulation and delivery
• research
• advocacy and campaigning
• conferences and seminars
• setting up and supporting forums and pilot projects
• cross-sectoral training and development initiatives
• coordinating activities that celebrate and promote culture in the South West

all of which happen in collaboration with our partners across the region.

We are not here to interfere in day-to-day work, tell other people how to do their jobs, or run around fixing what is not broken. We don't directly hold the purse-strings either although we work very closely with the funding organisations which do, including the lottery distributors.

Our region is brimful of people with talent and vision, well capable of spotting challenges and opportunities. There are national, regional and local organisations with the expertise and specialist knowledge to help them on their way. There are funding bodies that are more than happy to stump up for well thought-out and executed ideas. Culture South West sits at the centre of this web, keeping an eye on the big picture across the whole region and bringing different elements together, so that more people benefit and every penny spent pays dividends.
