Culture South West Ltd closed on 31 March 2009 following a review of regional cultural arrangements by the Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS).

From 1 April 2009, Arts Council England, Sport England, English Heritage and the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council in the South West are now responsible to DCMS for cross cultural sector work in the region. An action plan called ‘Delivering DCMS Cultural Prioritites in the South West’ has been produced and can be found on the DCMS website www.culture.gov.uk

People, Places and Spaces

The implementation of People, Places and Spaces will continue with the contract being managed by Arts Council England, South West. For further information please contact Mary Schwarz (mary.schwarz@btinternet.com) who will be overseeing its implementation until at least July 2009.

Creative Economy

The SW Creative Economy Partnership will continue with the partnership being resourced by the SW Regional Development Agency and Arts Council England, South West. For further information please contact Catherine Devenish (Catherine.Devenish@artscouncil.org.uk).

2012 and the Cultural Olympiad

The SW Creative Programmer for the 2012 Games will be hosted by Arts Council England, South West from 1 March 2009. Whilst the Creative Programmer will be hosted by the Arts Council, their brief remains to work with the whole of the cultural sector and to explore collaborations with other sectors, particularly education, science and health.
